KS+A is an architectural practice discovering the hedonistic way of making architecture. We believe that “research” and “design” are two entities that cannot be disjoined from each other during the project because each entity impacts the other. Throughout the project, even if it is a fast experimental project, we always aim to produce a theory from the design that is revealed through the research. Therefore, theory and project proceed simultaneously. At KS+A, we follow three principles to jump between theory and design throughout the project. Identity, history, and surrounding relations are the three principles that constitute and reveal the projects. According to us, the project works if the building is appropriated by users, integrated into the urban fabric, and carries its unique identity. Therefore, we use architecture as a communication tool to encourage social inclusion and democratize spaces. To achieve this purpose, design should become intimate, attractive, and confident enough to reveal and stimulate diverse feelings. Thus, treating buildings as physical reflections of theories, thoughts, and feelings through form, material, and atmosphere constitutes the main approach. It is also essential to consider the entire lifecycle of architectural objects. Like human beings, buildings emerge, speak, and eventually fade away. We always intend to inject sustainability through the use of recyclable materials and ecological construction techniques delicately without straying away from the three main constituents. Deconstruction becomes a part of the construction process for the creation of sustainable and long-lasting projects for the future.
